About

Cooee is a musical collaboration between Gunai multidisciplinary artist Kirli Saunders (OAM) and musician/illustrator Mark Chester Harding. 

Kirli and Mark met performing Like a Version with Jack River in late 2023. That week Mark bought a copy of Kirli’s poetry collection ‘Returning’ and began writing songs to her words. After sending the voice memos to Kirli the two decided to meet up and try writing together. Two sessions later they’d written an album’s worth of material and created Cooee. Their songs speak to many themes; connection to and caring for Country, language and culture, and more broadly – connection, grief and homecoming.
